Information and content posted on social media accounts is often available to the public, easily shared with others beyond the intended audience, and presents certain institutional risks. As a result, the use of social media, as it affects the College's reputation, carries certain responsibilities.

USE OF COLLEGE SOCIAL MEDIA ACCOUNTS

The Executive Director of Advancement and Foundation and their designee(s) are the designated account administrators of all College social media accounts. Students cannot serve as account administrators.

These administrators are responsible for the following:

  • Adhering to the policies of the social media platforms in which they are participating.
  • Ensuring that information and content posted do not infringe on the intellectual property rights of others or otherwise violate the law.
  • Posting only information and content that reflects the College's brand, mission, vision, and values.
  • Not engaging in personal activity under the guise of any College social media account.
  • Maintaining, actively managing, and monitoring the content on all College social media accounts.
  • Ensuring that content does not contain inappropriate, offensive, libelous, or illegal content, does not sell goods or services for profit, does not express personal political views, and does not violate any existing laws or college policies, such as FERPA, Affirmative Action, Sexual Harassment, Title IX, Copyright, etc.
  • The College account administrators may remove such content. Before removal, such posts must be documented and archived for records retention by the Executive Director of Advancement and Foundation.
  • Ensure that all content includes the appropriate photo/video release from Students and Employees featured in photos and videos posted to the College’s social media accounts. A link to the College’s official Indicia (Talent) Release Form can be found on the Intranet.
