Student organizations seeking official recognition and financial support must follow the procedure below.

  • Apply for recognition – Student organizations
must submit an application for recognition and meet the criteria established by the Student Government Association (SGA). The SGA and the Student Engagement Specialist review student organization applications and decide whether to approve or deny the application. The Student Engagement Specialist will provide written notice of the application approval or denial.

  • Submit an annual budget request – Student organizations must submit a budget request to the Student Activity Fee Allocation Committee (SAFAC) for ongoing funding support.

  • Meet compliance expectations - Student organizations must comply with SGA rules, the Student Code of Conduct, Student Organization Handbook guidelines, College policies and procedures, and all applicable laws.

An organization may have its official recognition withdrawn by SGA or the Vice President of Student Services/CCSO, or designee, if it:

  • Fails to comply with SGA rules, SAFAC procedures, or the Student Code of Conduct.
  • Engages in unlawful activities; or
  • Acts in a manner that brings disgrace to the College.

The Student Engagement Specialist will provide written notice to the organization if official recognition is withdrawn or denied. An organization may appeal a decision to withhold or withdraw official recognition by following the Student and Community Appeals and Complaints process, available on the College website.
