The College will use the terms Pre-Core, Core Ready, and Core Active on student records to indicate student status. The College will follow the procedure below to communicate with students who are admitted to programs that have academic preparedness requirements and a program waiting list. All emails will only be sent to the student Blackhawk email account.

Pre-Core - Student is currently not academically ready for the declared program:

  •      Students will be responsible to complete the academic preparedness and program requirements listed in the catalog for their program: https://catalog.blackhawk.edu/. Students will be responsible to monitor their progress. The Academic Advising department will be available for student support as needed.

Core Ready - Student is currently academically prepared for the declared program:

  •      The College will send an email to Core Ready students asking if they want an active seat or wish to remain on the waiting list if a seat is not available. Non-State applicants are not eligible to maintain a seat on the waiting list.

  •      Students have 21 calendar days to respond every waiting list cycle. After this period, the College will allocate active seats based on the waiting list order. This is determined by admit date and residency according to TCS10 requirements.

  •      Non-State applicants will be offered a program seat once all In-District and non-district state residents have been enrolled.

Core Active- Student is currently in the core classes for the declared program:

  •      Students will be informed whether they received a Core Active seat or remain on the waiting list. Non-State applicants are not eligible to maintain a seat on the waiting list.

  •      Students who receive a Core Active seat may have program and/or course registration requirements. For example: health forms, background check, immunizations, drug screen, program orientations, etc.
